The World Trade Organization (WTO) will arrive here on October to review Bangladesh`s trade policy from September 24 to 26.
WTO reviews the trade policy of developing countries in every six years. This is fourth time Bangladesh`s trade policy will come under the review in the context of WTO policy regimes.
The earlier three reviews were held in 1992 and 2000 and 2006.
The WTO delegation team will also review country’s investment situation, monetary policy, revenue policy, industrial policy, labour standard, protection of intellectual property and good governance during the visit.
WTO asked Bangladesh government to send them related documents by September 30. They will prepare a primary report based on the documents.
Besides, the Ministry of Commerce has already started work to make a report following the WTO delegations team’s visit to the country, sources said.
The report will emphasize on country’s public-private investment, barriers of investment policy, import-export situation, the assurances of GATT agreement on telecommunication, ICT, service sector, construction, transport and tourism sectors which have still not implemented.
