শেয়ারবাজার :::: বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী কর্নেল ফারুক খান জনগণকে কম খাওয়ার পরামর্শ দিয়ে বলেছেন, আপনারা কম খান, কম খেলে সমস্যা কমবে। আগেকার মানুষ কম খেত বলে বেশি দিন বাঁচত।বাণিজ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘আমরা ভেজালবিরোধী নতুন আইন করব। প্রস্তাবিত এ আইনে যিনি ভেজালের অভিযোগ করবেন ও তথ্য দেবেন, জরিমানার ২৫ শতাংশ টাকা তাকে দিয়ে দেওয়া হবে।’তিনি বলেন, ‘আমরা আশা করি আগামী ৭ থেকে ৮ দিনের মধ্যেই দ্রব্যমূল্য ও ভেজাল সমস্যা কমে আসবে।’বৃহস্পতিবার জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের ভিআইপি লাউঞ্জে ‘খাদ্যে ভেজাল প্রতিরোধে আমাদের করণীয়’ শীর্ষক আলোচনাসভায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।ভোক্তা নামক একটি সংগঠন এ আলোচনাসভার আয়োজন করেন।অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন এসবিসিসিআই’র সভাপতি একে আজাদ, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ফার্মাসি অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক ড. আ ব ম ফারুখ, বিসিএসআইআর’র চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক ড. এসএম ইমামুল হক, জাতীয় ভোক্তা অধিকার সংরক্ষণ অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক আবুল হোসেন মিয়া, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সেন্টার ফর অ্যাডভান্সড সায়েন্সেস’র প্রধান বিজ্ঞানী ড. লতিফুল বারী, ট্যাব সভাপতি কাজী ফারুখ প্রমুখ।অনুষ্ঠানে মূল নিবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রাণ রসায়ন ও অনুপ্রাণ বিজ্ঞান বিভাকের অধ্যাপক ড. হোসেন উদ্দিন শেখর।বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে একে আজাদ বলেন, ‘খাদ্যে ভেজাল সমস্যার জন্য মূলত তিন জন দায়ী

DHAKA: Commerce Minister Col Faruk Khan Thursday advised people to consume less as a way of checking unrelenting price rises, as his ministry came under fire from all directions for not being able to tackle the wayward market.
In his call to the people for exercising austerity, he said, “Consume less--it could help in curbing problems. People in the good old days lived longer as they ate lesser.”
He came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting titled “Our role in preventing food adulteration” at the VIP lounge of the National Press Club, in a bid to deal with another pervasive problem with food-commerce sector.
The Minister said, “We will make a new law for preventing food adulteration. As per the proposed act, a whistle-blower will get 25 percent of the fines in exchange for giving information about product faking.”
Khan hopes that price hike-and food-adulteration problems will be checked within seven or eight days.
Among others, FBCCI president AK Azad, Dhaka University teacher of Biochemistry Prof Dr. Hossain Uddin Shekhar and Chief of the DU center for advanced sciences Dr. Latiful Bari were present at the meeting.

The chief of the apex trade body did an unsparing sole-searching over the chaotic manners of the market, blaming all in authority for the problems.
“Three persons are responsible for food adulteration. I am responsible as business leader. The director-general of Consumer Rights Protection Department and the commerce minister himself are also responsible,” said the FBCCI president, AK Azad.
