:::: প্রাচীন বাংলার রাজধানী ঈশা খাঁ’র নগরী খ্যাত নারায়ণগঞ্জের সোনারগাঁওয়ে শনিবার বিকেলে দুটি বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্রের উদ্বোধন ও একটির ভিত্তি প্রস্তর স্থাপন করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। তিনটি কেন্দ্র-ই বেসরকারিভাবে নির্মিত। উদ্ধোধনকৃত এ দুটি বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র এরইমধ্যে বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন শুরু করেছে।
বিকেল ৩টায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও আওয়ামী লীগ সভানেত্রী শেখ হাসিনা হেলিকপ্টারে করে সোনারগাঁওয়ের মেঘনা ঘাট এলাকায় এসে পৌঁছান। পরে তিনি সোনারগাঁওয়ের মেঘনা ঘাট এলাকায় মেঘনা বিদ্যুৎ পল্লীতে অবস্থিত ওরিয়ন গ্রুপের ১০০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন কুইক রেন্টাল পাওয়ার প্লান্টের উদ্বোধন করে এর ফলক উন্মোচন শেষে মোনাজাত করেন। পরে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্রের বিভিন্ন অংশ ঘুরে দেখেন এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন।
সবশেষ প্রধানমন্ত্রী মেঘনা ঘাট এলাকায় এভারেস্ট পাওয়ার জেনারেশন কোম্পানি লিমিটেডের ২৫ দশমিক ১৭ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন পাওয়ার প্লান্টের উদ্বোধন ও সবশেষ মেঘনা বিদ্যুৎ পল্লীতে অবস্থিত সামিট গ্রুপের ৩৪১ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন ডুয়েল-ফুয়েল কম্বাইন্ড সাইকেল পাওয়ার প্লান্টের ভিত্তি প্রস্তর স্থাপন করেন।

Stocks down amid hartal The Dhaka and Chittagong stocks went into business despite a 36-hour hartal, but registered significant fall amid a lacklustre trading at the beginning on Sunday.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index lost 195.12 points or 3.25 percent to 5794.69 at 11:53am.
All but four of the 230 issues traded by then declined.
The turnover stood at Tk 1.71 billion.
Trading on the country's premier bourse began as per the schedule with the fulfilment of quorum despite the shutdown being enforced by the BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from the daybreak.
Trading began at 11:00am when 151 members logged on to trade on the DSE on the first day of the 36-hour shutdown.
"We need 72 members to fulfil the quorum, but 151 members started trading at the beginning," said DSE public relations officer Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman.
In the first five minutes, the DSE index dropped by 117 points with the volume in terms of value standing at Tk 290 million.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Selective Categories Index also slipped by 188.98 points or 1.76 percent to 10490.32 at 11:50am.
Out of the 144 traded issues, only seven gained, 135 declined and two remained unchanged.
The turnover stood at Tk 294 million.
