The country’s bourses have recommended amendment to the SEC’s OTC (over the counter) market rules to make it vibrant.

The recommendations came at the first meeting of a committee formed to find out ways to develop OTC market.

Earlier, the Securities and Exchange Commi-ssion (SEC) formed a four-member panel to device ways to develop the OTC market. The committee was asked to submit report by the next one month.

The committee sat with the DSE and CSE representatives to discuss the issues in a border perspective. DSE chief financial officer Shuvra Kanti and CSE chief executive officer Syed Sajid Hosaain attended the meeting.

“We recommended amendment to the OTC rules as it is not a trading-friendly one and also old,” said Syed Sajid Hossain. He also said ‘we are hopeful that the market will be vibrant if the regulation is amended.’
