“But, Bangladesh’s commercial banks are in a good position in comparison with other banks worldwide at present times,” said the central bank governor while inaugurating a workshop here.
He also informed that Bangladesh Bank has prepared a ‘stability report’ on the banking sector which will be published soon.
“There could be many reasons for financial crisis. The decisions taken after deep observation considering various risks would have to be implemented,” said Dr Atiur.
Warning that no irregularities and fraudulence in the sector of supervision would be tolerated, the governor advised the participants to contact him directly for his cooperation if higher authority creates problem for their work.
Central bank deputy governors Nazrul Huda, Ziaul Hassan Siddiqui and Abul Kashem and Bangladesh Bank Training Academy executive director Ataur Rahman also spoke at the function, presided over by executive director SK Sur Chowdhury.
